Final Year Exam may be Postponed | Supreme Court reserved order
Exams may be postponed but not canceled: The Supreme Court (SC) reserved an order that Final Year Exam may be Postponed or delayed but not canceled. The UGC (University Grants Commission) said that Degrees cannot be granted without exams and said that it is mandatory for students to give exams. They also said that the entire country is working and all the students are 21-22 yrs old so it is not possible that they do not go out.
Supreme Court’s Verdict on pleas for Cancellation of Examination
On August 18, the Supreme Court heard pleas for cancellation of the examination. Students demanded cancellation of exams due to the on-going pandemic. The court was hearing a plea filed by students against the UGC’s guidelines on July 6 in order to conduct final year exams by September 30. The UGC directed all 900 Universities across the country to conduct final year exams by September 30 either through online, or offline mode.
On Monday, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea filed by students to postpone the JEE Mains and NEET exams, due to the COVID- 19 situation.
