School Reopening 2020: Schools open in these states from today, these rules will have to be taken care of. Schools in various states are being reopened today, from 2 November 2020, following a phased-in exemption in the lockdown imposed for the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic. However, in many states the schools have been opened after the central government’s directive to open them from October 16 onwards. The states where schools are being opened from today include Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Uttarakhand. Apart from these states, Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas located in different states are also opening from today.
Schools in all these states and Kendriya Vidyalayas are being opened for senior classes, students from 9th to 12th only. Along with the standard operating procedures issued by the central government, SOPs have also been issued by the states to open schools in a phased manner. All these rules are compulsory to be followed by all teaching and non-teaching staff and schools along with students.

Andhra Pradesh: All necessary precautions and instructions have been issued to open schools in the state in a phased manner. Classes in schools will be run on ‘Alternate Days’ and classes will continue till noon. Each class can have a maximum of 16 students. All social distancing norms have to be followed and masks or face covers should be installed. Everyone has to wash their hands from time to time.
Himachal Pradesh: Classes will be organized for students from 9th to 12th in the state too. All students will have to take written consent of their parents and attendance at schools will not be necessary. The schools have to follow the guidelines issued by the Union Home Ministry.
Assam: After being closed for almost seven months, schools in Assam are being opened from today. However, classes are to be started for students from 6th to Senior classes here apart from other states. Classes will start in the morning and there will be a gap between the two classes. Toilets will have to be cleaned and sanitized at school. The State Education Department of the state government has instructed students to give iron and folic acid tablets to increase their immunity.
